Believe

Third painting in my Superman Series. This is portrait of Christopher Reeve was inspired by a visit to our National Gallery to see some Italian masterpieces. The last painting of the exhibit co-incidentally turned out to be one of my favourite paintings, so as I stopped and stared at it for about 20 minutes, this came to me and was painted in the following week. It’s very different from Freedom and Savior in that they are easily identifiable from a distance, something I’ve deliberately aimed for, whereas this was painted (digitally) to be viewed closeup (or large) as it worked to give it a softer, brushy appearance that might not be so clear from the smaller pics shown here.
